Description

Design Components 

The Petzl RIG is a self-braking descender with a handle that enables convenient control of the descent. The AUTO-LOCK system allows users to quickly position themselves without having to manipulate the handle or tie off the device. Once locked, the rope can be taken up without having to manipulate the handle. Easy to grasp, the descender is a simple, efficient alternative to traditional descenders.

Usage and Technical Features 

Install a locking carabiner on the RIG for attachment to the harness or anchor.

Open the moving side plate and raise the handle slightly to allow the cam to move. Install the rope around the cam in the direction indicated by the icons marked on the device. Close the moving side plate, making sure that the safety gate closes completely. Each time the rope is installed, check that the rope blocks in the desired direction. Complete with the connection to anchor.

The amazing thing about this device is the ergonomic handle allows the rope to be released and enables convenient control of the descent.

The AUTO-LOCK system allows users to quickly position themselves without having to manipulate the handle or tie off the device: as soon as the user releases the handle, the rope is automatically locked in the device The automatic return system on the handle limits the risk of the device getting accidentally snagged.

The stainless steel wear plate improves durability by reinforcing the rope friction zone.

• The safety gate allows the rope to be installed with the device remaining connected to the anchor.
• The RIG is compatible with 10 to 11.5 mm ropes.
• The RIG can take loads up to 150 kg without carabiner bypass and 200kg with an additional carabiner bypass.

Maximum load without secondary bypass : 150kg (rope size 10-11.5mm)

Maximum load with secondary bypass: 200kg  (rope size 10.5 – 11.5mm)
