Design Components

The Petzl Spin S1 Opens combines a pulley and a swivel into one easy to use product. It is designed so that the pulley’s side plate can slide open, while remaining attached to the anchoring point. This allows for simpler and smoother operation and installation.

The large diameter sheave mounted on sealed ball bearings promises excellent efficiency.

By integrating these two components together, the swivel will allow the pulley to align itself with the direction of the rope’s pull. This allows more freedom in where you can rig you points and redirect pulleys when devising a system.

In a typical situation, a swivel and pulley are attached with a carabiner, however the SPIN S1 OPEN pulley is designed for maximum simplicity in setting up haul or load deviation systems and tensioned highlines. Compact, reducing weight and bulk, which is especially useful during technical rescue. The sheave with sealed ball bearings provides excellent efficiency. The swivel facilitates operations, allowing the pulley to be oriented under load. The opening gate on the swivel makes the pulley compatible with a wide variety of products (tripod, REEVE pulley, PAW rigging plates, and more) reducing bulk during set up.

Please Note:

• The screw is designed to be tightened to 2.5Nm. It should be installed and regularly inspected with a torque wrench.
• To strengthen the hold of the screw, use Loctite 222 (appropriate for alloy materials). DO NOT put the Loctite on the rubber washer, ONLY on the thread of the screw.
• The hex key needed for tightening the screw is a standard size. It is no longer supplied with the item (to reduce waste) so expect to have to supply the hex key yourself when assembling.
