Description
Design Components
The Petzl I’D EVAC is a self-braking descender. It also sports a built-in friction brake. The device is designed for lowering loads from an anchor point. The ergonomic handle is specifically oriented for managing a load from the anchor and offers comfortable descent control. The device can sustain a two person load of 250kg because of the auxiliary brake feature. The Petzl I’D EVAC has an auto-lock system. This locks the rope in place without having to tie off the device or without having to move the handle by hand. Once locked, the rope can be taken up without having to manipulate the handle. It is ideal for use in aerial studios and is specifically designed for rescue situations which we often encounter in aerial in static and swinging training.
Technical Features
The rotating side plate allows the rope to be installed while the device stays in one piece. The safety gate also allows the rope to be installed with the device remaining connected to the anchor. There are markings on the interior of the device, allowing for easy and trouble-free rope installation. There is also anti-error catch, reducing the risk of accident due to incorrect installation of the device on the rope.
The amazing thing about this device is the anti-panic function which automatically stops the descent if the user pulls too hard on the handle. The I’D EVAC also automatically locks when the handle is released. The rotating side-plate can also be locked shut with a screw, preventing open access to uninstructed users.
The open brake allows the user to install or release a rope at any time. Stainless steel wear plate improves durability.
The integrated anti-panic function and anti-error catch limit the risk of an accident due to user error.
The safety gate allows the rope to be installed with the device remaining connected to the anchor. I’D EVAC is compatible with 10 to 11.5 mm ropes and allows handling of loads up to 250 kg.
