Aerial Fabrics: Our Pre-Sale Safety Protocols

After we receive our fabric from the fabric mill, we complete a rigorous quality control and inspection process which we outline in the video above.

  1. We catalogue and date every roll to ensure a comprehensive tracing and tracking system.
  2. We prepare one sample from each batch of fabric and send it to a third-party facility for destruction testing to ensure compliance with our published Minimum Breaking Strain.
  3. When we prepare the destruction test sample, we choose to whip the fabric in place instead of knotting it. Whipping loads the fabric evenly across the full width; knotting will overload some sections more than others and will reduce the tensile strength and lifespan of the fabric.
  4. We send the test piece off to a third-party for destruction testing. The most recent batch (April 2026) broke at over 2.5t when rigged in a basket (double strand pull). This meets and exceeds our standards.
  5. We also complete an in-house proof test for every roll that we receive. We test it in a single-strand vertical pull with a calibrated load cell attached. Each roll gets tested and must exceed 800kg (single strand pull).
  6. All tested fabric is discarded.

In the video you will also see our processes when we prepare an order.

  1. For every order, we complete a manufacturer data report so that we maintain an extensive tracking system.
  2. Our fully-certified Height Safety Equipment Inspectors complete a detailed inspection.
  3. They look for tears, ladders, holes, burns, discolouration, joins and blemishes in the fabric body and edges.
  4. We photographically document the fabric in the MDR (Manufacturer Data Record).
  5. Each fabric gets a TRIX CIRCUS compliance tag sewn into it. This states its individualized serial number, User Load Limit (ULL) and Minimum Breaking Strain (MBS). Our TRIX CIRCUS compliance tags have the date of manufacture embedded in the serial number. You can see on this tag below that the serial number is Trix-F- nineteen, twelve, 25: that means that this silk was processed on the 19th of December 2025. This is important to note as according to our recommendations, your silk should be in use a maximum of 5 years.

Next our height safety equipment inspectors find the middle of each fabric and attach it onto a figure 8 or our manufacture team processes the fabric into a hammock. During this process the team is also doing final checks for any defects.

Every fabric comes with a Product Data Sheet that tells the user how to clean, maintain, properly store, use and inspect the fabric. Along with the Product Data Sheet, we send an inspection log and a list of important “Dos and Don’ts” for maintaining the integrity of the aerial fabric.

Lastly, our team carefully packs each parcel. Please make sure not to open with scissors or a box cutter!

Remember, nothing lasts forever. Every piece of equipment is a consumable.
