Design Components

The Petzl Spin L1 combines a pulley and a swivel into one easy to use product. It is designed so that the pulley’s side plate can slide open, while remaining attached to the anchoring point. This allows for simpler and smoother operation and installation.

The large diameter sheave mounted on sealed ball bearings promises excellent efficiency.

By integrating these two components together, the swivel will allow the pulley to align itself with the direction of the rope’s pull. This allows more freedom in where you can rig you points and redirect pulleys when devising a system.

In a typical situation, a swivel and pulley are attached with a carabiner. However, the Petzl’s compact design not only reduces the amount of length from top to bottom, it also eliminates any unwanted movement in the equipment itself (or “that a carabiner would create”.) This design works perfectly for environments with limited height.
